The Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon Tajudeen Abbas has said all obsolete National Housing Fund scheme in the Act of 1992 will be reviewed in line with the current economic realities.
Hon. Abbas said this during the opening of the ad hoc committee on Non Remittance of Contributions to the National Housing Fund and the Utilization of the Fund From 2011 to date.
Deputy Speaker Hon Benjamin Kalu, who represented the Speaker says, the scheme was intiatially designed to ensure that Nigerians have access to affordable housing has become obsolete hence the need for review of the Act to meet current day reality.
In his opening remark, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon Datchung Bagos urged Stakeholders to be forthcoming in their presentations and submissions.
The Executive Secretary of the National Housing Fund Scheme however says the agency has never received any remittances from the scheme.
The committee will continue its sitting tomorrow by 11.00am.
