Malaria: Benue Varsity Students Takes Care To IDPs.

Students from the Benue State University under the “We Care Initiative” are helping Internally Displaced Persons in some camps in Makurdi to overcome the challenge of malaria parasite during the rainy season.

Malaria Parasite which is associated with rainy season and dirty environment accounts for several deaths in sub – saharan Africa, particularly Nigeria, as Benue ranks high due its to humanitarian situation arising from armed herders attacks.

PLUSTV News. Correspondent francis Ter who was at the IDP camp reports that over fifty children are been tested for the malaria parasite on the first day of the campaign.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the students for their support, and called on the government and well-meaning individuals for mosquito nets and other essentials.

Leader of the group, Victor Egwu, who lead some of his colleagues to Bawa IDP camp, said the exercise was borne out of the desire to help the poor mitigate malaria which is a common phenomenon this season.

The students group however called for support such as mosquito nets and essential medicines to enable the IDPs function effectively.
