Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy visited the eastern frontline on Wednesday, meeting with troops and giving awards to servicemen days after Russian President Vladimir Putin went to the city of Mariupol.
Zelenskiy in a video address said it was an honor to support the soldiers who are defending the country in the toughest frontline conditions.
Ukrainian forces have held out for about eight months in Bakhmut, despite taking heavy casualties in one of the bloodiest battles since Russia’s full-scale invasion 13 months ago.
