Gov’ship Elections: INEC Declares Sanwo-Olu Winner

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declares Babajide Sanwo-Olu winner of the Lagos governorship election at a few minutes past 1am on Monday.

Announcing the outcome at the Lagos headquarters of INEC, Oladiji Adenike, the returning officer for the election, says Sanwo-Olu polled 762,134 votes to win the election.

The LP came second with 312,329 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stood at third place with 62,449 votes.
A total of 1,182,620 voters were accredited, while 1,155,678 votes were valid.
With the INEC declaration, Sanwo-Olu has secured a second tenure as governor of Lagos state.
