The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has directed the Sokoto State Resident Electoral Commission, Dr Nura Ali, to stay away from the commission until further notice. The commission however directed the Administrative Secretary of the commission in the state, Hauwa Aliyu Kangiwa, to take full charge of the commission in the state with immediate effect.
The directive was contained in a letter signed by the secretary to the commission, Rose Oriaran-Anthony.
INEC further directed the administrative secretary in the state to take full charge with immediate effects.
The INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, had in a meeting with states REC recently, vowed to deal with any official of the commission who contributed to the shortcomings of the presidential election.
