Protesters took to the streets of Peru’s capital on Saturday to demand the resignation of President Dina Boluarte.
Police used tear gas to disperse protesters near the health ministry while demonstrators attempted to block the streets with recycle bins.
A protester from the Apurimac department, Milagros Rivera, told Reuters the protesters were not intimidated by Boluarte and would “not get tired”.
Human rights groups have accused authorities of using firearms on protesters and dropping smoke bombs from helicopters. The army accuses protesters of using weapons and homemade explosives.
