Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has lost his bid to clinch the Benue North West. senatorial seat to a former aide, Chief Titus Zam of All Progressives Congress (APC).
Returning officer, Prof. Rufus Shaato declared Zam as winner of the election for Benue North West senatorial district at exactly 3:12pm at INEC office in Makurdi.
Zam scored a total of 143,151 to emerge winner as against the Peoples’ Democratic Party’s Samuel Ortom who polled a total of 106, 882 to come second while the candidate of the Labour Party, and a member of the House of Representatives Mark Gbillah, had a total of 51,950 votes.
Speaking to Journalist shortly after the declaration Dr. Zam who was Ortom’s Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs during his first term said the people of the zone have rejected the non-performance of Governor Ortom by voting him out.
