A body was recovered hours after a boat carrying migrants crashed against rocks near the coast of southern Italy.
The shipwreck occured near Steccato di Cutro, a seaside resort on the eastern coast of Calabria, the region that forms the tip of Italy’s boot.
Rescuers from Italy’s Finance Police battling high waves and rough sea pulled out a body to the shore littered with the remains of the boat.
The boat was carrying about 120 people and according to the coast guard the search was still on for other possible survivors.
