The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said Umo Eno remains its governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Debo Ologunagba, PDP spokesperson, described news of Eno’s suspension as “mischievous” and “fake”.
“The attention of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to a fake letter purported to have been signed by the national publicity secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba and mischievously claiming that the governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom state, pastor Umo Bassey Eno has been suspended from the party,” the statement read.
The party urged Nigerians, particularly teeming members and supporters in Akwa Ibom state to disregard the said fake letter as Umo Eno was never suspended from the party.
A federal high court in Abuja had on January 20 sacked Eno as the party’s governorship candidate.
