Former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has advised his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, to look towards the South for its next presidential candidate and not think of leaving the ticket in the North.

Speaking at an engagement with the Nigeria Union of Journalists FCT chapter in Abuja on Monday, Okorocha said any decision to break the cycle of rotation and returning to the North for another eight years after President Muhammadu Buhari could create a serious crisis within the party.

Okorocha who currently serves as Senator representing Imo West said in looking towards the south, it will only be fair for the rest of the country to consider ceding the position in 2023 to the Southeast.

He, however, did not categorically make it known if he will be vying for the presidency in 2023, even though he said he is driven more by the vision.

The federal lawmaker thinks the trouble with Nigeria is in a lack of what he called national spirit; pointing out that without such spirit of patriotism, nationalism, brotherliness, nobility, and honesty, Nigeria cannot achieve any meaningful progress.

Okorocha, however, prophesized a glorious future for Nigeria where one Naira will one day equal to one dollar; a country where peace and tranquility will reign as against being a terrorized nation.
