Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has called on residents to remove bitterness from politics, saying that the government and communities lose more when politicians air their grievances by burning down buildings and other property in the name of politics.

The Governor made this call when he visited Aghoro Community in Ekeremor Local Government Area to pay tribute to Madam Bebeapere Agbedi, mother of the member representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency who passed on at the age of 111.
Diri, who recalled how hoodlums stormed the community some months ago and set the lawmaker’s home ablaze for reasons best known to them, urged the locals to understand that engaging in the destruction of properties at a time when the people are yearning for development is uncalled for.

The speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, the wife of Bayelsa State Governor, Gloria Diri, the senator representing Bayelsa Central, Hon. Cleopas Moses, former Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, retired Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah, and others also spoke at the event; describing her as worthy of emulation.
