French President Emmanuel Macron and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese have met on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Indonesia.
The two leaders were set to discuss their strategic approach for the Pacific region, common efforts in the fight against climate change and cooperation with regard to technology and culture.
The meeting comes as Albanese and Macron made efforts this summer to move past a diplomatic quarrel over a cancelled submarine deal.
In October 2021, France accused its allies of stabbing it in the back when Australia opted for nuclear-powered submarines to be built with U.S. and British technology instead of a multi-billion dollar French submarine programme.
