Rafael Nadal said he was happy to be back on tour for the ATP 1000 Paris Masters after a five-month struggle with injury, adding he was adjusting to life away from his newborn son in his first tournament away since his birth.
Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday (November 1), Nadal said he hoped to do better at the tournament – one of the few tournaments on the tour he has yet to win.
Nadal said he was already missing his newborn son, named Rafael Nadal Perello, but video communication technology made it easier to not feel like he was missing out.
Nadal, the tournament’s second seed, kicks off his tournament against Tommy Paul in the second round on Wednesday (November 2) after receiving a bye for the first round.
