Adamawa: Community Lauds UNFPA’s Support

The Malkohi community in Yola South of Adamawa which is hosting Internally Displaced Person IDPs has commended the UN Population Fund UNFPA for protecting and empowering women and girls The Community

The Leader Abubakar Gidado gave the commendation when the Country Representative of the Fund Ulla Mueller and the Danish Ambassador to Nigeria Sune Krogstrup paid a visit to the people in Yola Gidado, said that the UNFPA Nigeria had positively impacted the lives of the IDPs and the entire Malkohi community in many ways, especially in skills acquisition and empowerment.

The Chairman of the IDPs, Umar Abubakar who expressed delight over the visit of the UNFPA team also thanked the community for the support given to the IDPs and the community leader for the hospitality accorded the displaced persons.

Danish Ambassador to Nigeria, Sune Krogstrup addressing the IDP host community, said he is in Nigeria to support Nigerians.

Our correspondent reports that the team also inspected the DNA Forensic Laboratory in Yola where samples collected from Gender-Based Violence survivors are analyzed for access to justice.
