Two governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State and his Cross River State counterpart, Ben Ayade, have paid a visit to Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in Port Harcourt.

The governors were accompanied by the Governor of Abia state, Okezie Ikpeazu.

David Umahi and Ben Ayade were originally elected governors under the platform of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), before joining the APC.

While details of the meeting with Wike are yet to be made public, there are indications of a formidable political alliance ahead of next February’s presidential poll.

Wike and Ikpeazu are power brokers in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The duo alongside three other PDP governors (Oyo, Enugu and Benue) have for months demanded the removal of PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, as a precondition to support the party’s Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
