Smoke billowed from damaged buildings at the site of a drone attack in a sleepy town south of Ukraine’s capital on Wednesday (October 5).
Local officials said the drones were Iranian-made loitering munitions, often known as “kamikaze drones”.
Dozens of firefighters had rushed to the scene after six drones hit a building in Bila Tserkva, around 75 km (45 miles) south of Kyiv overnight, Kyiv region governor Oleksiy Kuleba said on Wednesday.
Ukraine has reported a spate of Russian attacks with Iranian-made Shahed-136 drones over the last three weeks, which Kyiv says have been rebadged “Geran-2” by Moscow.
Iran denies supplying the drones to Russia, while the Kremlin has not commented.
