Armed with green handkerchiefs – a symbol of the fight for the legalization of abortion in Latin America – women in Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Chile have protested to mark International Safe Abortion Day.
Protesters danced and chanted in Bogota while demanding the government ensure their access to safe abortion.
In Santiago, Chilean pro-abortion activists protested to demand their right to decide over their own bodies, while also advocating for the victims who suffered police brutality during the 2019 social uprising.
