American Brandon Nakashima outdueled countryman Marcos Giron to claim his first ATP Tour title at the San Diego Open Sunday.
Fifth-seeded Nakashima earned the only break of the opening set and then needed two breaks in the second to clinch a 6-4 6-4 victory over third-seeded Giron at the ATP 250 level event.
Nakashima is projected to move up to number 48 in the ATP World Rankings with the win.
