A fire broke out at a shopping mall in South Korea, leaving at least seven dead and one seriously injured, a local fire station said on Monday (September 26).
Chung Ji-sun, the chairman of Hyundai Department Store Group which operates the outlet mall, inspected the scene and apologised.
The fire station said the fire began from a basement around 7:45 a.m. local time (2245 GMT, September 25) before the mall’s business hours.
About 100 people who were staying at a nearby hotel were evacuated and about 120 personnel were mobilised to extinguish the fire, according to the fire station, adding that an investigation was underway.
