Governor Nyesom Wike’s camp in the Peoples Democratic Party has officially announced its withdrawal from participating in the presidential campaign of the party for the 2023 elections.
The group made its position known shortly after over 7 hours of closed door meeting on Wednesday at the private residence of Governor Wike in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State State Capital.
PDP Chieftain, Bode George read the communique after the meeting.
Some of the members who attended the meeting at Governor Wike’s residence include, Governor Seyi Makinde, former Governors Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo, Ayo Fayose of Ekiti, Donald Duke of Cross River, Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe and Jonah Jang of Plateau, other are Mohammed Adoki, Professor Jerry Gana, amongst others.
They vowed not to participate in whatever capacity in the campaign council unless the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu resigns for a southern candidate.
