President Macky Sall of Senegal has appointed a new prime minister, a position he eliminated in 2019, then reinstalled last year following the contentious parliamentary elections held in July.
Five days after the reopening of parliament, which was marked by several incidents and held under tight security, Amadou Ba, a former foreign minister, was named the new premier of the split nation by presidential order.
Ba served as Sall’s finance minister from 2013 to 2019 before taking over as foreign minister from 2019 to 2020.
Sall pledged to nominate a representative from the party that would win the election
