Kenya’s electoral chair has broken his silence after four commissioners rejected the outcome of the country’s presidential elections results.
The Independent and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chair Wafula Chebukati said that during an August 15 meeting, four commissioners who broke ranks regarding the results unsuccessfully pushed for a re-run.
He said the commissioners demanded that the chairperson moderates the results for purpose of forcing an election Re-run contrary to their oath of office.
Chebukati said he considered the move unconstitutional and illegal and tantamount to subverting the Constitution and the sovereign will of the Kenyan people.
