The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has dismissed reports that Nigeria and Benin could co-host the 2025 AFCON tournament.
President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick had said that Nigeria and neighbouring country, Benin Republic are in discussion to co-host the competition as the tournament could moved away from Guinea due to the political situation in the country.
Guinea has been under military rule since a coup last year and that has led to concerns over security and organisation for the 2025 finals.
But an official of CAF has dismissed Pinnick’s claims of a bid saying that neither his organisation nor Guinean football officials have discussed ceding the hosting right to another country.
