International Day Of Afro-Latin American: Afro-Brazilian Women Rally Against Bolsonaro

Thousands of black Brazilian women have taken to the streets of Sao Paulo, to protest against, right-wing President Jair Bol-so-naro’s administration, on the International Day of Afro-Latin American, Afro-Caribbean, and Diaspora Women.

Equipped with banners with the popular slogan ‘Bolsonaro out,’ the demonstrators marched in Defense of black people’s rights, one of the most affected, by gang violence in the country.

According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, the country’s black population, lags behind in socio-economic indicators, such as employment, education, homicide rates, and political representation.
