Ethiopia’s state-appointed human rights commission says a video circulating on social media showed government security forces carrying out at least 30 extrajudicial killings in December 2021.
The video, widely shared since Friday, showed a group of men wearing army combat fatigues forcing men off trucks parked on a rural roadside and shooting them.
The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC)citing conversations with witnesses said government security forces shot and killed at least 30 people, who were members of OLF Shene group.
Ethiopia government spokesperson Legesse Tulu, military spokesperson Colonel Getnet Adane, and Amhara regional administration spokesperson did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
