Chief Whip of the Senate, Senaor Orji Uzor Kalu says there is nothing wrong if the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu, runs a Muslim-Muslim ticket
The matter has been on the front burner of public discussions as Nigerians have expressed diverse views.
While speaking before commencement of plenary, Kalu said it would be politically naive for Tinubu to choose a minority Christian from the North as his running mate.
He insisted that since Tinubu’s wife is a senior pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), she will balance the ticket as a ‘de facto deputy president’ should Tinubu win the presidency.
While the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has rejected the idea of Muslim-Muslim tickets and warned parties against it, some stakeholders have asked Nigerians to focus more on competence than sentiment.
