The outgoing President of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has handed over power to the new president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who will now have to steer the horn of the African country in eradicating insecurity caused by the Islamist group Al Shabaab.
The newly elected president described the event as historic, and a day to always remember, as he solicited the support of all Somali people wherever they are.
Mohamud beat Farmaajo in the Horn of African country’s election held on May the 15th, garnering two hundred and fourteen votes against the latter’s one hundred and ten votes in the third round.
