Ataga Murder: Chidinma’s Trial Stalled Again

Ongoing trial of an undergraduate of the University of Lagos, UNILAG, Chidinma Ojukwu, over the alleged murder of Michael Ataga, the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, has been stalled again.
Ojukwu’s trial was stalled due to a contest of integrity of the deceased’s bank statements presented before the Justice Yetunde Adesanya.

The accused who has been charged with murder, stealing, and forgery alongside her sister, Chioma Egbuchu, and one Adedapo Quadri is standing trial before a Lagos High Court, sitting in Igbosere.

Two representatives from Access and GTCO banks had appeared in court to tender the statements of account of the deceased as evidential documents.
The first defense counsel, Onwuka Egwu, however, objected to the evidence being tendered, saying the document came like a spring of surprise.
On his part, the second defense counsel, Babatunde Busari objected to the Bank statements on the basis that it was different from the account details already tendered to the court as an exhibit.
The Lagos State Deputy Director of Public Prosecution, Adenike Oluwafemi, later prayed the court for an adjournment so as make the needed adjustments.
The trial was adjourned till Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
