Notwithstanding the lack of data from Lagos State, the epicentre of Nigeria’s coronavirus pandemic, the country registered 53 new cases across the federation’s 10 states on Monday.
This was announced in a late Monday night bulletin from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
With the additional confirmed cases, the country’s infection toll has risen to 253,780, while the death toll has remained unchanged at 3,139, even though no fatalities were reported on Monday.
Nigeria has effectively treated and released 230,144 patients, including community discharges, according to the NCDC, while 20,496 persons remain infected across the country.
According to the NCDC, Gombe State in the north-east had the highest cases (16), followed by Cross River State and Rivers states in the south-south, which each had eight and 12 cases.
