2022 Budget: Senate Sets November 8 and 9 for Public Hearing

The Senate on Monday through its Committee on Appropriation rolled out a plan of action on consideration and passage of the 16.39 trillion Naira 2022 budget proposals.

In a timetable released on Monday by the Senate Committee on Appropriations, budget defence sessions between the various standing committees and heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, MDAs, are slated for Monday, October 18 till Wednesday, November 24, while November 8 and 9 are fixed for public hearing.

Submissions and defence of budget reports by Chairmen of the various standing committees are fixed for Wednesday, November 10 till Wednesday, November 24.

Collation/Harmonisation of Reports by Appropriation Committee is fixed for Thursday, November 25 till Tuesday, December 7.

While laying and presentation of the report by the Appropriation Committee is fixed for Tuesday, December 14, 2021, consideration of the report and passage is fixed for December 15or 16, 2021.

Both Chambers of the National Assembly had passed the document for second reading last week after debating the general principles of the proposals and projections.

The federal lawmakers, thereafter, suspended the plenary till November 9, to allow for further consideration at the committee level.
