Police in Katsina say they have arrested a 25-year-old Hamza Isah for allegedly conspiring with two others to kidnap his 60-year-old father, Isah Maigora, in Matazu Local Government Area of the state for 2 million Naira ransom.

The spokesman of the Police, Superintendent Gambo Isah, while parading the suspect said the act was carried out with the use of a charm.

According to Isah, the arrest became successful when the 30-year-old suspect, Buhari Isah’s brother, reported the case to the Matazu Division that gunmen had stormed their house and kidnapped their father, suspecting his brother, 25-year-old Hamza Isah.

He also hinted that the suspect was traced and arrested following credible intelligence gathered from the report made.

The police spokesman also said in the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to have conspired with a 51-year-old man, Auwal Magaji, who gave him a talisman and other charms to bury in his father’s house to enable the kidnappers to have access to the house.

25-year-old Isah denied having masterminded his father’s kidnap, but said before the incident, he had a misunderstanding with his dad.

He said as a farmer, during the planting season, he ran short of fertilizer, which his father refused to assist him with, which was the genesis of their problem.

He also said that it was due to the misunderstandings with his father and boasting of getting more money to buy fertilizer that his elder brother suspected and reported him to the police leading to his arrest.

Both men, Auwal Magaji and Babangida denied having any involvement in the crime.

The Police spokesman said the investigation is ongoing.
