The police in Bauchi State have said that about three suspected kidnappers and armed robbers have been arrested in Bayara and Birshin Fulani axis in Bauchi State, North-East Nigeria.
A statement signed by the Command’s spokesman, Ahmed Wakil, said that at about 0300hrs, information was received from a good samaritan, which led to the arrest of the alleged suspects who conspired among themselves, armed with AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons, stormed the house of one Alhaji Dan’asabe Bayara where they shot one Danjuma Umar to death, robbed Alhaji Dan’asabe of his valuables, kidnapped his son to an unknown destination, and later demanded and collected the sum of 800,000Naira as ransom.
It could be recalled that Birshin Fulani and Bayara Axis have over time become one of the major flashpoints of kidnapping and robbery in Bauchi State that resulted in the residents of that area protesting and blocking the major highway over what they described as insecurity in the area.
The police said an investigation is ongoing, after which the suspects will be charged to court.
