Six hundred and fifty premises comprising, sixty-two pharmacies, and five hundred and eighty-eight patent medicine vendors shops have been sealed by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, PCN, for various offences including inadequate storage of facilities, sales of illicit drugs, among others.
The Registrar, PCN, Pharmacist Elijah Mohammed, who was represented by the Director, Enforcement, PCN, Pharmacist Stephen Asumobi, disclosed this at the end of an enforcement exercise in Kaduna.
He said the exercise is to streamline the drug distribution system and improve the level of pharmaceutical service delivery to Nigerians.
Mohammed explained that the activities of many patented medicine shop owners and dealers have contributed in no small way to the security challenges across the country.
The PCN also said it is committed to ensuring full implementation of the National Drugs Distribution Guidelines.
