Three escapees from Oko maximum prison jailbreak that occurred in Edo State during the EndSARS protest in October 2020 have been killed during a heavy gun duel with officers from the Delta State Police Command.
Commissioner of Police, Ari Muhammed, made the disclosure in Asaba, the Delta State capital, on Friday.
Three kidnappers out of the four victims of the heavy gun duel that occurred at the railway track in Agbor, Ika-South Local Government Area of Delta State, were among the unaccounted number of escapees from the Oko maximum correctional facility who infiltrated Delta to continue the same crime of kidnapping for which they were earlier jailed.
The kidnappers were neutralised while on a trail to abduct the PDP Woman Leader in Umunede.
Among exhibits recovered at the scene of the attack were an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, two pump-action guns, 28 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition, and 31 rounds of live cartridges.
