Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, says the anti-open grazing law in the state is not targeted at any group of persons but necessitated by the need to ensure orderly organization of agricultural activities across the country.

Governor Emmanuel said this at the inauguration of an enforcement Committee on the law in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.

After signing the law prohibiting open rearing and grazing of livestock and provide for the establishment of ranches and livestock administration, regulation and control questions arose on the issue of enforcement.

These questions were answered with the inauguration of a committee to enforce the law by Governor Emmanuel who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Emmanuel Ekuwem.

The Chairperson of the committee and Commissioner for Agriculture, Glory Edet, assured that the committee will make the state proud in carrying out the assignment.

The state anti-open grazing bill was passed by the state legislature in September and signed into law by Governor Emmanuel the day after.
