Coalition of Civil Society Organizations made the call during the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room dialogue session with security agencies in Anambra State.
Members of the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room, representatives of the various security agencies, as well as media organizations and Civil Society Organizations, Wednesday converged on Awka, Anambra State capital.
Top on the agenda is the issue of insecurity and how to achieve a peaceful election in the November 6, 2021, governorship poll.
After several hours of deliberations, the meeting wants the Nigerian federal authorities to go into dialogue with the self determination agitation group, the IPOB and other aggrieved groups so as to douse tension and restore confidence in the public space.
They, however, urged the people to give peace a chance, noting that no meaningful development can be achieved in a hostile environment.
