Alleged Army Brutality: Police Commences Investigation In Cross River

The police in Cross River State have commenced investigation into the allege army brutality of the youths in Nde village of Ikom Local Government Area of the state.

The Nigerian Army has been accused of brutalizing youths in Nde village for protesting against cattle grazing in their farmland, prompting residents and monarchs to cry out to the military and state government for immediate action.

Speaking on the issue, the Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, said the state Commissioner of Police, Aminu Alhassan, has invited both the leadership of Hausa/Fulani community from Ikom and the Nde communities to resolve the issue.

Ugbo equally said investigation has commenced into the alleged brutality of youths by some soldiers, saying police will unraveled the matter and made to the public.

Some Cross River Residents who spoke on the issue, wants government to take immediate action to avoid clash between herdsmen and Nde Community in the State .

No fewer than 10 youths of Nde Community in Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River are currently undergoing treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Ikom and its environment as a result of injuries sustained from the allege soldier brutality.

Armed soldiers allegedly arrived at the community and beat up their youths for asking the herdsmen to leave their area as a result of destruction of farmland by the herders cows.
