Three prominent social media platforms; Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, which were shut down for about five hours yesterday caught many users unawares.
Though the management of the platforms have restored them and apologized for the inconveniences, many Ekiti residents are still recounting their experiences during the period.
Some of those who spoke to reporters lamented their inability to transact business while the technical issues lasted.
Another respondent said it was not a funny experience as he had to remove and reinsert the battery of his phone severally and thought of taking the phone to an engineer for repairs. He added that the development temporarily distorted the means of his communication.
Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram are owned by Mark Zuckerberg and the latest outage according to sources was the largest failure it had seen since their establishment
All three services could not be accessed over the web or on smartphone apps, a development, which, however, forced many users to switch to other platforms such as telegram and other chatting sites.
