Panic is witnessed in Owerri, the Imo State capital, following sporadic gunshots at different locations within the city.

According to reports, gunmen suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, are trying to harass residents and forcing them to obey Monday sit-at-home order.

Banks, markets, and other private businesses are shutting down for fear of being attacked.

However, security has been beefed up in the city as armed security men have been drafted to strategic locations to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
