The Ministry of Defence has reacted to a trending fake video alleging the Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi, carrying an AK 47 rifle.
A statement by the Special Assistant to the Minister on Media and Publicity, Muhammad Abbdulkadir, said the video is misleading as findings reveal the person in the video is the Rector of the Nigerian Army College of Environmental Science and Technology Makurdi.
The statement hinted that by virtue of his command position, he is permitted in the military to sign for a weapon when travelling.
The statement enjoined the public to disregard the false information being spread by mischief-makers.
