Ex-Army Personnel, one other arrested for transporting illicit drugs

Soldiers attached to the Special Task Force Operation Safe Haven in Plateau State have arrested two persons, an ex-corporal, Essien Friday, 60-year-old retired Army personnel, and 50-year-old Ibrahim Ali, transporting 248 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa popularly known as Indian hemp.

This is coming barely 10 days after a similar burst was made by the men of the Special Task Force in Plateau State.

Neatly packed in 1kg Parcels from Ondo State, the content of the parcels 248 in number is cannabis Sativa and were headed for a destination in Adamawa State before luck ran out on them.

The transporters, one of whom is a retired Army corporal, said they have been in the business for some time but have never transported their illicit goods up north.

The Indian hemp totaling 248 Bailes 18 wraps, a Toyota Camry, and the two suspects were handed over to the Plateau State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation and prosecution.
