Five days after the abduction of the former Director of Public Affairs at the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, and former Managing Director of the Katsina State Television, KTTV, Ahmed Abdulkadir, and his 15-year-old daughter, they are demanding 70 million Naira for their release.

A source close to the family said the bandits are demanding 50 million Naira for Abdulkadir while they pegged that of his daughter, Laila, at 20 million Naira.

It was also gathered that the bandits informed the family that the 15-year-old Laila has been ill and cannot even walk, hence they should do all they can to ensure they pay the ransom for their release.

When contacted for comments, the police spokesman in the state, Superintendent of Police Gambo Isah, said the command is working round the clock to see to their release.

He, however, feigned ignorance of the ransom placed on the victims.

The former NBC Director and former Managing Director of the state-owned Television was abducted alongside his 15-year-old daughter, Laila and four neighbours, during a night attack on Monday, September 6, at Shema Housing Quarters in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Four of the abductees later escaped when members of the vigilante in the town chased the bandits, leaving the duo with the kidnappers.
