With Nigerians dissatisfied with the issue of electronic transmission of results as passed by the National Assembly in the amended electoral act, some Nigerians want the National Assembly members to reconsider their decision in the interest of the masses.
This position was advanced by Professor John Alabi who was the Guest Speaker at the 2021 Press Week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Kogi State Council.
It was the annual Press Week of members of the pen profession where issues of national importance are brought to the fore for discussion, and the 2021 edition of this program focused on the electoral amendment and the future of Nigeria’s democracy.

The NUJ President, Chris Isiguzo, and the Kogi State Council Chairman, Momoh Adieza, emphasized the need for a quality welfare package for Journalists.
On his part, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Public Relations, Ahmed Bolori, agreed that some kind of special welfare package should be designed for journalists whom he said work in hazardous circumstances.
Some Kogites were honored by the NUJ for adding value to the state in various forms.
Part of the resolution of the Press Week is to come up with a position paper which would be sent to the National Assembly on how to deal with the controversies that are arising from the electoral amendment act and the multiplier effects of not taking a decision that meets the yearnings of Nigerians.
