Six thousand, four hundred and sixty-six cases of Cholera have been recorded in Kano State since the outbreak of the disease in early March, with 224 deaths recorded across all the health facilities in the state.
The Director of Public Health and Disease Control at the state’s health ministry, Dr. Ashiru Rajab, disclosed this in an interview with reporters, where he called on the residents to maintain good personal hygiene.
The outbreak of Cholera in the state has further overstretched facilities at government-owned hospitals.
So far, 6, 466 cases have been recorded with 5,970 patients successfully treated and discharged while the state has recorded 224 deaths.
As the state continues to grapple with the disease, the Director of Public Health and Disease Control called on the people to wash their vegetables and fruits with salt and to also maintain good hygiene, and distance their utensils from flies.
He also cautioned against open defecation, which is common in the state.
With Fagge and Sumaila Local Government Area being worst hit by the Cholera outbreak, the health ministry said the state government is doing its best to prevent the further spread of the disease.
