A mother and her teenage daughter were on Thursday evening crushed to death by a passenger train plying the Itakpe Warri railway, at the Orhuwhorun community in the Udu Local Council Area of Delta State.
It was gathered that the deceased persons were reportedly returning from where they went to fetch firewood and were walking on the rail tracks when the unfortunate incident happened.
According to local sources, the woman who is known for selling moi-moi apparently did not hear the blurring horns of the train and was not fast enough to cross over. She was unfortunately knocked down alongside her daughter who tried to get her out of the tracks.
At the time of the report, the train which was bound for Ujevwu train station in Udu and scheduled to return to Itakpe in Kogi State later today, may not be possible as the area has been thronged by irate youths.
