Following the tragic incident that occurred Monday morning in the Jibya Local Government Area of Katsina State where a Nigerian Customs Service patrol vehicle of Sector 4 Border Drill was involved in a ghastly accident, the Katsina State House of Assembly is seeking their disbandment from the area.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Tasi’u Maigari, said this after the House directed the Clerk to write a letter to the state government seeking the disbandment of Border Drill in the state.

This is coming as the member representing Jibya Constituency in the Assembly, Mustapha Yusuf, moved a motion to that effect.

The motion is following the accident involving the Customs officers that led to the death of several people in the area.

The lawmaker while speaking over the incident, lamented that Customs officers, especially those in the border drill team, overspeed in towns with impunity.

The House has also resolved to write an official letter to the National Assembly to protest the activities of the officers in the border drill team.

It will be recalled that border drill is a joint task team of Customs officers, Department of State Services, Police, and Immigration officers, being supervised by the office of the National Security Adviser, following the closure of the borders, to checkmate the activities of smugglers.
