A former Councilor of Tudun Wada Gusau Ward in Zamfara State, Babangida Ibrahim, has been shot in his hands and his 26-year-old wife, Hassana Saudaki, and his eight-month-old son have been abducted by suspected gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday.
The incident was said to have occurred when suspected bandits armed with AK 47 rifles invaded his residence at the Government Residential Quarters, GRA, in the Damba Area of Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, at about 12:20 am.
They were said to have operated for more than one hour before leaving with his wife, Hassana Saudaki, and his eight-month-old son to an unknown location.
The victim said he put a distress call to the police immediately to come to his rescue but they did not show up until 3 am after the criminals had long gone with his wife Hassana Saudaki, and his eight-month-old son.
He narrated that the gunmen were four in number, who stormed his residence, shooting sporadically, before forcing themselves into his house where they shot him in his hand and abducted his wife and son.
Babangida Ibrahim said this is not the first time the criminals would invade his residence in the area.
Mallam Ibrahim recovered 17 used ammunition which the criminals fired at the main door of the house to force it open to access the sitting room.
The victim, Babangida Ibrahim, who is devastated by the unpleasant development, appealed to the authorities concerned to ensure the safe rescue of his wife, Hassana Saudaki, and his eight-month-old son.
Efforts to get the police to confirm the incident proved abortive, as the police spokesman, Superintendent Mohammed Shehu, did not respond to calls nor text messages put across to him.
