The Nigerian Army says it is desirous of meeting the expectations of Nigerians by doing things differently in its operations to defeat the common threats of national security.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Farouq Yahaya, said this during the Second Edition of the Senior Command and Leadership Seminar for Incumbent and Potential Brigade Commanders and General Officers Commanding, in Kaduna.
The seminar which is to enhance the quality of leadership and manpower of the Nigerian Army is in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s vision of having a professional Nigerian Army ready to accomplish all assigned missions within a joint environment in the defence of Nigeria.
Lieutenant General Yahaya said that the senior-level officers are the channels through which the set strategic goals of defeating the common national threats confronting the nation rest hence the training is to share ideas and identify gaps in military operations.
Bearing in mind that the current operating environment is volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous, the army chief noted that, the present operating environment, requires sound leadership, and dynamic thinking, from the field commanders.
The Chief of Army Staff said that to achieve optimal results, the Army must also identify and address its weaknesses.
The theme of the seminar is Enhancing the Capacity of the Nigerian Army Senior-Level Field Commanders for Optimal Performance in a Complex Operating Environment.
