Cross River State Governor, Prof Ben Ayade, has promised to support more women in elective and appointive positions in a bid to increase their participation in line with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, target.
Ayade made this known in Calabar, the state capital when he joined over 3, 000 women in a rally organised in his honour for appointing over 1, 000 of them into his government.
The Governor who immediately pronounced another soft grant of monthly 10, 000 Naira for another 1, 000 women to increase their trading, said Cross River State will always be a model.
On their part, the wife of the Governor, Linda Ayade, and Cross River Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Stella Odey, said the rally was organised to appreciate what Governor Ayade has done for the women of Cross River State in the last six years.
Over 3, 000 women who converged in 11 roundabouts earlier embarked on peace work to support the Governor’s humanitarian services.
