Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, has expressed worries over the incessant bandits’ attack in the state, saying he is are not happy with the security situation in the state with 10 out of the 34 Local Government Areas under attack daily.
Masari who was speaking when he received the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya, said though the situation has generally improved, the need for effective deployment and use of technology and media warfare is key to winning the war.
He hinted that there is a need to ensure that the situation is brought under minimal control so as to allow the military to go back to the barracks while the police assume their internal security role.
Governor Masari while appreciating the efforts made by the military and other security agencies said the situation of insecurity has improved compared to the rate of daily attacks witnessed last year though, the state is disturbed.
He urged the Chief of Army Staff to ensure effective synergy between other security agencies to bring to the barest minimum issues of insecurity by effectively deploying technology and use of the media.
Masari further urged the Army Chief on the need to ensure that peace is restored so that the military who are overstretched return to their barracks while the police assume their rightful role of maintaining internal security.
The Chief of Army Staff told the Governor that he is in the state on an operational tour to the various formations.
He added that since assumption in office, it is his first time to interact directly with men fighting the insurgents and bandits, hoping that his visit will further boost their morales to put in their best and completely win the war.
Both chief security officers stressed the need for the people to note that the insecurity bedeviling the nation is everybody’s business and eliminate the issues of blame games.
